On the water
LAKE MULWALA
Lake Mulwala is an unforgettable sight with its majestic and ghostly river red gums and provides an aquatic haven for a range of water activities for visitors and locals alike.
How about a wake board lesson, maybe a lunch cruise on the Princess Queen or our paddlewheeler - The Cumberoona or a leisurely cruise at your own pace on a private Pontoon Boat.
Cast a line for the local Murray cod and golden perch while sipping on local wine and snacking on local produce. Explore the walking tracks around the lake and or Chinaman’s island wetlands or kick back on the banks of Lake Mulwala at dusk and take in a spectacular sunset over the water. The twisted trunks of the submerged red gum forest make for a striking scene.
MURRAY RIVER
This majestic river is the lifeblood for many Australians and has significant cultural, environmental and historical importance. The mighty Murray River spans 3 states, New South Wales, Victoria and South Australia and runs through the middle of Lake Mulwala and flows towards Echuca and Corowa.
The Murray River is popular for fishing, hiking, bike riding and water activities. The magnificence of the river red gums is evident where ever you go along the Murray River and the wildlife that makes it home along and around the riverbanks are some of Australia's icons. Being on the Murray River affords access to great inland beaches and long lazy fishing expeditions.
Canoeing and Kayaking
The Murray River is ideal for canoeing, kayaking & SUP. Experience the peace and serenity as you silently glide on the water discovering the backwaters, creeks, beaches and lagoons of Sun Country on the Murray.
The region is rich with Aboriginal culture with canoe trees and sacred burial grounds all within close proximity. Whether you hire equipment and create your own adventure or consider a guided tour with one of our fully qualified local operators, this experience will not disappoint.
Our waterways are lined by lush bushland making kayaking the river a great way to spot native animals, and dozens of water and forest bird species that can be observed in their natural environment.
